Steam Flow through holes in a pipe

AI Thread Summary
The discussion focuses on calculating the mass flow rate of dry saturated steam through five 3mm holes in a 25mm ID pipe under a pressure of 3 kg/cm². Key considerations include whether there are restrictions downstream and the length of the pipe, which is noted to be 200mm. Participants suggest researching orifice flow and choked flow, as well as using the Moody chart to determine pressure drop effects on steam pressure at the holes. The context of the steam application involves a device that conditions fabric by exposing it to steam as it passes through rollers. Understanding these parameters is crucial for accurate flow rate calculations.

TL;DR Summary
What will be mass flow rate of dry saturated steam through holes on a pipe.
What will be mass flow rate of dry saturated steam through holes on a pipe. Pipe ID: 25mm, Steam Pressure 3 kg/cm^2, Holes' Dia: 3mm, Number of Holes: 5.

Is this a homework problem? Is there any restriction downstream from the holes? What is your background? What have you tried so far?

Search engine is your friend. Start with orifice flow, then search choked flow. If the 25 mm pipe is very long, search Moody chart or Moody diagram to calculate pressure drop in the pipe to find steam pressure at the holes.

We have a steam bath device in our company.
In this device, we feed a fabric in tape form by 2 set of rollers. Between the rollers we expose the fabric to steam (by a steam pipe directly beneath the fabric) in order to condition it.

The pipe is about 200mm long. When we switch on the rollers, we switch on the steam too by a ball valve. The pipe is closed at one end and other end is supplied with steam. All 5 holes are 40mm apart.

Thread 'Physics of Stretch: What pressure does a band apply on a cylinder?'
Scenario 1 (figure 1) A continuous loop of elastic material is stretched around two metal bars. The top bar is attached to a load cell that reads force. The lower bar can be moved downwards to stretch the elastic material. The lower bar is moved downwards until the two bars are 1190mm apart, stretching the elastic material. The bars are 5mm thick, so the total internal loop length is 1200mm (1190mm + 5mm + 5mm). At this level of stretch, the load cell reads 45N tensile force. Key numbers...
I'm trying to decide what size and type of galvanized steel I need for 2 cantilever extensions. The cantilever is 5 ft. The space between the two cantilever arms is a 17 ft Gap the center 7 ft of the 17 ft Gap we'll need to Bear approximately 17,000 lb spread evenly from the front of the cantilever to the back of the cantilever over 5 ft. I will put support beams across these cantilever arms to support the load evenly
