What Is the Opposing Resistance for a 14ohm and 10ohm Circuit?

AI Thread Summary
The discussion revolves around understanding the concept of "opposing resistance" in a circuit with 14 ohms and 10 ohms. Participants seek clarification on whether the term refers to a resistance that opposes another or the opposite of resistance itself. There is confusion regarding the context and the connection of the resistances, as well as a suggestion that the question might be about equivalent resistance. The need for additional information, such as a circuit diagram, is emphasized to provide a more accurate answer. Overall, the conversation highlights the importance of context in electrical resistance discussions.

Homework Statement
Is there anything called opposing resistance.
Relevant Equations
Well this is not a homework.
I don't know about it. Please help.
It wasn't letting me to post until I typed something here. So I am typing this.

Inverse of resistance is conductance whose unit is siemens, use to be moh, ##\Omega^{-1}##.

You need to give more context.
Do you mean, something that is opposing a resistance, or an "opposing resistance ", i.e. a resistance that opposes something? Or are you asking what is the opposite of resistance?

If the first, who or what is opposing what sort of resistance? A dictator in a dictatorship? A battery in a circuit? A cyclist in the wind?

Well my teacher asked the question that there are two resistance of 14ohm and 10ohm so what is the opposing resistance.

How are they connected? Is there a diagram?

By any chance, do you know if they meant equivalent resistance?

TL;DR Summary: I came across this question from a Sri Lankan A-level textbook. Question - An ice cube with a length of 10 cm is immersed in water at 0 °C. An observer observes the ice cube from the water, and it seems to be 7.75 cm long. If the refractive index of water is 4/3, find the height of the ice cube immersed in the water. I could not understand how the apparent height of the ice cube in the water depends on the height of the ice cube immersed in the water. Does anyone have an...

Starting with the mass considerations #m(t)# is mass of water #M_{c}# mass of container and #M(t)# mass of total system $$M(t) = M_{C} + m(t)$$ $$\Rightarrow \frac{dM(t)}{dt} = \frac{dm(t)}{dt}$$ $$P_i = Mv + u \, dm$$ $$P_f = (M + dm)(v + dv)$$ $$\Delta P = M \, dv + (v - u) \, dm$$ $$F = \frac{dP}{dt} = M \frac{dv}{dt} + (v - u) \frac{dm}{dt}$$ $$F = u \frac{dm}{dt} = \rho A u^2$$ from conservation of momentum , the cannon recoils with the same force which it applies. $$\quad \frac{dm}{dt}...
