In the webcomic The Order of the Stick the heroes discuss and then go to a place called the Windy Canyon, where some of them turn out to be unprepared for high winds because they expected it to be a twisty canyon. A couple of the characters have a short discussion on how the confusion only makes sense in writing but they talked about it, but choose not to dwell on the implications.

(Considering that one of the characters previously needed a diamond and got it by stealing the one she was holding in the picture on her character bio page, they really ought to know better by now.)
