My department chairman once showed me a quiz that he had just given in his earth science class.

One question was "What is the difference between solar and lunar eclipses?"

One student wrote, "A solar eclipse is when the moon comes between the sun and the earth. A lunar eclipse is when the sun comes between the moon and the earth." There were matching diagrams.
