An index to some of my posts

I sometimes want to refer back to posts I have written in the past; this will help me find them. I may also link to a couple of posts by other people that I want to keep listed. I will probably keep adding to it from time to time.

If anyone reads this blog, then I will welcome comments! Tell me if you think some of these posts are actually dreadful, or if there's a better post by someone else that I can consider for the same topic, or anything else. Thanks!

Climate

Thread Estimating the impact of CO2 on global mean temperature
This is perhaps my most useful contribution at physicsforums. A step by step account of how CO2 has an impact on climate.
Thread A low likelihood for high climate sensitivity
A thread about Annan and Hargreaves (2009) on implications of expert priors on Bayesian based pdfs for sensitivity.
msg #163 and msg #169 of thread "New GW/CC Policy"
These posts are my clearest account of how climate discussion should be managed. I think it was a very sad thing that climate discussions were closed; these are my proposals for policy to help manage it better.
msg #129 of thread "New GW/CC Policy"
On why it is a mistake to think special climate expertise is needed to moderate the debate, with ref to Lindzen & Choi as an legitimate reference that happens to be wrong.
msg #99 of thread "The AGW climate feedback discussion"
Response of Trenberth, Fasullo, O’Dell, and Wong (2010) to Lindzen and Choi (2009)
msg #34 of thread "Falsification Of The Atmospheric CO2 Greenhouse Effects Within The Frame Of Physics"
First measurement of atmospheric backradiation, 1954
msg #76 of thread "Need Help: Can You Model CO2 as a Greenhouse Gas (Or is This Just Wishful Thinking?)"
Extracts from Tydall's lecture of 1863
Cosmology

msg #11 of thread "Why are people saying that the radius of the observable universe is 46.5 ly"
Explaining the difference between light travel time and proper distance, with a table for the ΛCMD(0.27, 0.73) model.
msg #11 of thread "The Big Bang. . . just one little question"
On flat/open/closed, and the possibility of a crunch or indefinite expansion, in the context of dark energy.
msg #135 of thread "What Is Beyond The Observable Universe?"
On what can be observed as a particle crosses an event horizon.
msg #14 of thread "Accelerating Expansion Threshhold"
On the comparatively simple nature of expansion on the universe (with hat tip to Wallace)
Thread Cosmological Coincidences, by Garth.
I comment in msg #2 with a link to BAUT. This is about a probably unimportant, but curious, coincidence that the age of the universe is very close to 1/H0.
msg #8 in thread "Why are people saying that the radius of the observable universe is 46.5 ly"
Low level account of three distance measures. Proper distance now, proper distance then, and light travel time. Also radius of observable universe and superluminal cosmological recessions.
msg #6 of "Perceiving the expansion of the universe in daily life"
Another attempt I made to explain expansion. Not one of my best attempts, but still.
Relativity

msg #46, msg #50 of thread "Twin Paradox- a quick(ish) question"
Spacetime diagrams for twin paradox with instantaneous turn around.
msg #19 of thread "most basic of thought experiments in special relativity"
Twin "paradox". An account of a trip to a distant star, and back, with instantaneous accelerations, from the perspective of the traveler.
msg #21 of thread "most basic of thought experiments in special relativity"
Explaining the size of an image in a moving pin hole camera, in the frame of the camera, and in the frame of an outside observer. Shows angular size of views for a relativistic traveler. With diagrams.
msg #11 of thread 'Do black holes "evaporate" or go "bang"?'
A table showing the mass, lifetime, and temperature of various sized black holes.
msg #163 of thread "Twins paradox and ageing"; also msg #10 of thread "Gravitational Time Dilation - Confused"
On gravitational time dilation, and the measurement described in Clocks, Kids, and General Relativity on Mt Rainier
