Crackpots vs. New Age

Crackpots; persons who make up their own scientific theories - without using science, seems to be strongly correlated with persons who are into New Age and similar movements.
My latest finding was actually a member on this forum who is member and chief-staff in a New Age oriented club/fellowship who believes that one should not wear clothes, since that was not what God ('the Creator') intended humankind to be, i.e. they are nudists.
One thing to know about crackpots is that they can not be proven wrong according to themselves. They make up their own logical framework, they don't use math as a physicist would do - they claim they see beyond math.
Similar with people who are into New Age; they claim to see beyond what current Religions (like Christianity - which has a quite clear framework) and therefore don't need scripture, revelation or whatever to guide them on their spiritual journey.
So maybe that is part of our human nature which is stronger in some individuals; we don't like rules and experts, we want to be 'free'.
Regarding Creationists and Science, Creationists does not seem to be so aware of presenting new science to prove their stances - they seem to use known science, in that extension that it fits their needs - and when it doesn't - they claim science in that particular field to be 'uncertain' etc.
