In Algeabra I and can't add???

Posted Sep30-09 at 01:05 AM by Integral

I finally got to help students in the math class. I was not surprised at the lack of motivation to work when left to their own devices but I was shocked at the pair a gals that when presented with the problem

10 + 2.5 * 2

came up with 6 as a answer and didn't even feel that it might be wrong.

In the electronics class we started building simple LED circuits.

One fellow couldn't get his Led to light. Voltage measurements showed that the LED was correct but we were dropping nearly source voltage across the 100 Ohm resistor?????

Closer inspection reveled that the 3rd band was not brown but a dark blue, on a 1/4W resister it can be very hard to tell the difference between some of the darker colors.

    are you crazy???
    try this...
    let a=b=5
    a^2=ab.......true
    a^2-b^2=ab-b^2.....true
    (a+b)(a-b)=a(a-b)......true
    dividing both sides by (a-b),we get..
    a+b=a......false
    this concept is all your application my dear.....
