Pretty good week for the Norman clan.

First, let me just remind everyone why I started this blog-my wife was diagnosed with skin cancer before we were even married for a year. In addition, my wife's father died of that very same cancer only 5 months before she was diagnosed. I actually posted my very first blog as I sat in the hospital waiting for her while she had surgery. The blog was really cathartic and helped me just get some things off my chest.

Well, I am happy...

I am currently in the north of Germany (Bremen) attending a conference (COSPAR - Committee On SPAce Research). Great conference so far. Bremen is a great town and Germany always reminds me of home in Wisconsin. Similar food, similar people, similar landscape and BEER! It is nice to be in a country that takes beer brewing seriously. Because I take drinking beer seriously! :P

Presenting 2 talks on Thursday and co-author of another 2 talks. A very productive conference so far....

Last week marked the beginning of a new job for me. It is another postdoc, but this one is actually a competitive award that I won.

It, however, makes my employment situation really odd. I am not employed by any company or entity nor am I unemployed. I am what is considered an award winner. I get no benefits and have to have any extended absence from my non-job approved with the possibility that I would not get paid by my non-job while away. Sounds fun right?

I wonder what the frequency analysis of my posting habits to my blog would look like... eh... I don't really want to do it.
