Just some papers that tickled my fancy by their title/abstract. I figure by posting them here, I will shame myself into actually reading them in the hopes of perhaps posting a mini-review about them later on this blog. Otherwise, when I just bookmark the link in Firefox, it lingers until I end up just deleting it. Heh.

Analyzing wood density in violins by nondestructive radiological methods.

Understanding water and its role in "rational" protein crystallization. (Insert snarky comment here.)

A high resolution solid state NMR structure of a small protein.

Using NMR to monitor biochemical events in a cell.

And yes, I chose PLoS journals specifically so anyone who stumbles across this blog post can go check things out for themselves.

    nondestructive methods response-

I'm really hoping that this technology is utilized constructively during our lifetime. In the more obvious way, being able to replicate Stradivarius violins would decrease their monetary value. This would allow them into more hands and younger hands of musicians. I look forward to the potential evolution of these instrumental sounds.
